I began this project by "sketching" a layout using Fortnite foundation pieces, walls, stairs, and railings. This allowed me to visualize where I would want players to flow through the POI and create interconnected paths for flanking and looting.
I then used a collection of walls, windows, doors, and roof pieces to blockout a few buildings.
The elevation changes within this POI add not only visual interest, but also create height advantages for combat, especially useful in Zero Build. The buildings near elevation changes include basements or staircases to allow easy transition between elevations.
Throughout the streets, crumbling walls provide cover opportunities and small nooks to heal up in between fights.
The residential zone includes two houses: a two story home with an interior courtyard, and a three story home with basement access to the lower elevations. The courtyard home includes roof access for high ground advantage or a quick escape, while also providing plenty of walls inside for cover. The other home has three levels, with the main entrances located on the second floor, providing cover and safe access to the different levels of the village.
The focal point of the commercial zone is the watchtower. Access from the roof after gliding, or through the ground level window, provide a highly contested looting zone for a quick loadout. The crumbling walls around the archery training grounds allow for quick cover in and out of the courtyard.
At the lowest tier of the POI is the rock garden. The tall bamboo and tree canopy provide safe cover from players further up in the village.
